This leading event dedicated to the deployment of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) brings together all stakeholders involved in the implementation of ETCS (European Train Control System) and GSM-R (Radio Communications System for Railways), railway representatives, the supply industry and a number of leading institutions from across the world.
The UIC ERTMS World Conference provides a unique platform where industry and users are given the opportunity to take stock of progress, exchange experience on the implementation, and set goals and objectives for future deployment.
The main theme of this 10th edition will be “ERTMS – Global Dimensions”.
ERTMS, initially a major European project, appears to be the global signalling standard and is being embraced by railways worldwide.
The focus will be on ERTMS Regional, which aims at enabling cost savings on infrastructure of regional lines when trains equipped with ETCS on board will access these lines. The lines are supposed to be equipped with GSM-R.
UIC ERTMS 2012 will start with an ERTMS Regional test trip on 24 April in Borlänge, organised by Trafikverket.
The conference itself will take place on 25 and 26 April together with the ERTMS Exhibition representing different companies from the signalling, radio-telecommunications and software industry, and various related services.
The UIC ERTMS conferences are organised regularly in different locations to sustain momentum towards meeting ERTMS objectives. The last conference held in 2009 in Malaga (Spain) was a great success, bringing together 800 participants from 35 countries and 40 exhibitors.
