The 8th World Congress & Trade Exhibition on High Speed Rail will be held in Philadelphia, PA, USA, from 10 – 13 July 2012. It will be the most important event of the year in the long-distance passenger rail transportation and infrastructure business.
All strategic issues linked to the development of high speed rail systems will be addressed at this global event organised by UIC and APTA (American Public Transportation Association). All key players from the international transport scene are expected to attend: railways, international organisations, government representatives, the supply industry and research institutes.
UIC HIGHSPEED 2012 follows 7 successful editions of this congress: 5 under the EurailSpeed brand name and 2 successful editions under the UIC HIGHSPEED brand name. Previous editions were held in Beijing (2010), Amsterdam (2008), Milan (2005), Madrid (2002), Berlin (1998), Lille (1995) and Brussels (1992).
This 8th World Congress & Trade Exhibition will include 2 round tables, parallel sessions, student programme, technical visits and a top level international trade exhibition.
Round tables
High-ranking people involved in the development of High Speed Rail and other transport industry representatives are invited to debate major issues about the financing of High Speed Lines and competition between modes. They will also comment on the audience’s poll about the transport policy and related matters.
The topic of Round Table 1 is “How to deliver a HSR project in today’s economic context?” and the second one is “What part can HSR play in the future transport market?”
Parallel sessions
Parallel sessions deal with technical and economic issues as well as transport policy visions. During some of them, UIC will disclose its latest research findings.
Corridor sessions aim at delivering information about potential new high speed corridors in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Russia, Poland and Scandinavia.
