The development of a corridor allowing corner heights of four metres along the Saint-Gotthard line is a prerequisite for increasing rail’s market share in transalpine freight traffic, in accordance with the constitutional mandate. In the position statement addressed to the Federal Office of Transport (FOT), SBB has pledged its support in principle for the plan, which is now put out to consultation.
