The 6th Scientific Committee meeting for the World Congress on High Speed (WCHS 2015) was held in Tokyo on 3 July, under the Chairmanship of Michel Leboeuf and co-Chairman Mr Masaki Ogata.
The meeting focused on the main content of the programme, with the main purpose of being inspired by the past 50 years of high speed in order to get ideas for the high speed of the next 50 years.
The Scientific content of the Congress will consist of five streams: Systems and Technology I and II, Management, Customers and Culture & Society.
The “Call for papers” will be launched by the end of October and papers should be received before the end of January.
In October a proposal will be also launched for cooperation with technical universities, in order to analyse the possible similitude and conclusions from the comparison between high speed rail networks and other existing networks (distribution of gas, water, electricity, telephone, motorways, etc.).
The documents describing all these proposals to enrich the Congress will be launched in the autumn, after validation by the Plenary Scientific Committee, to be held in Bilbao (Spain), on 3 November.
The 9th World Congress on High Speed will be a “paperless” Congress for the first time, by using IT technologies enabling more information flow and more interaction between all the participants.
