UIC Members are cordially invited to participate in the International Conference organised by OTIF – the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail – which will be hosted by the Railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran (RAI) in collaboration with ECO and UIC from 11 – 12 November in Tehran.
The conference will be organised and attended by high-level participants including Mr François Davenne, Secretary General of OTIF, Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General of UIC, the worldwide railway association, Mr Altaf Asghar, Deputy Secretary General of ECO – the Economic Cooperation Organization comprising 10 Member States – delegates from TCDD such as the Chair Railway of UIC Middle-East, as well as top representatives and instructors from OTIF, ECO, UIC…
The conference, targeted at the Middle-Eastern Region, will address technical and legal issues such as:
- application of the COTIF international convention in the Middle-East and by ECO Members
- transport of dangerous goods
- OTIF technical regulations
- CIM/SMGS common consignment roles
- application of COTIF appendices
This conference will provide an opportunity to exchange information and share best practices to improve railway freight activities.
There are plans to organise the 14th Meeting of the UIC Regional Assembly for the Middle-East (14th UIC RAME Meeting) during the same period in Iran alongside the above conference, on the afternoon of the first or second day (11 or 12 November), provided that a majority of UIC Middle-East Members attend the OTIF/ECO/UIC conference in Tehran.
