The first Organising Committee meeting for the next UIC World Congress on High Speed (WCHS 2017) was held in Paris on 22 March, under the Chairmanship of Mr Ali Ihsan Uygun, Turkish Railways (TCDD) Deputy Director General and Member of the Board, and Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, UIC Director General.

This 10th World High Speed Congress will be held in Ankara (Turkey) from 11 to 13 July 2017, at the Congresium Ankara international convention and exhibition centre, in downtown Ankara. The UIC Executive Board and the General Assembly will be held at the same place on 10 July 2017.

A professional exhibition will be organised during the three-days congress.
Several technical visits will be proposed on 14 July. A social programme is being planned in Istanbul starting from 14 July.

The main issues of the meeting were:

  • Composition of the Organising Committee
  • Coordination with the Scientific Committee
  • Cooperation and links between UIC, TCDD and CMS, the Turkish sub-contractor chosen by TCDD to help with the organisation of the congress
  • Communications plan 2016-2017

A “save the date” and a press release will soon be published.
