Mr Isa Apaydin has been appointed the new Chairman of the Board and Director General of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) as of 13 May 2016. He succeeds Mr Ömer Yildiz as the Head of Turkish Railways.
Born in 1965 in Ankara, Mr Isa Apaydin graduated from Istanbul Technical University – Department of Metallurgical Engineering – in 1987 and received a Master’s Degree from the same department at Sakarya University in 1996. Initially an engineer within the Directorate General of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) and assigned different positions, Mr Apaydin finally took over the office of Deputy Director General and Member of the Board of TCDD between 2005 and 2015.
Mr Apaydin has put his signature to numerous fields in Turkish Railways, such as the construction and commissioning of high speed and rapid railway projects, rehabilitation and maintenance of the existing network and National Train Project, improvement of structures for research-development and training, for the establishment of the domestic railway industry.
