Správa železniční dopravní cesty (the Czech Railway Infrastructure Administration) improved parameters of the railway line from Hranice na Moravě to Střelná in the sections Valašské Meziříčí (outside) – Jablůnka (outside) and Vsetín (outside) – Horní Lideč (outside). The main objective of the project was to achieve a technical state corresponding to EU parameters and standards.
The construction included adaptations of the railway superstructure and substructure, platforms, railway crossings, bridges and parts of the catenary. In connection to the railway superstructure exchange, electrical heating of switches was dealt with as well to assure higher safety and operation functionality especially in winter. Safety and signalling equipment and local cables were also renewed.
“The main asset of adaptations carried out on the line 280 is to achieve greater travel comfort and operation safety. Thanks to a reduction in speed, journey times could be shortened which will be appreciated by passengers”, said Mr Pavel Surý, Director General of SŽDC.
In accordance with the global objective of Operational Programme Transport Priority Axis 1 which is an improvement of railway transport on the Trans-European Transport Network TEN-T, higher transport availability was achieved, infrastructure capacity and railway operation quality for extending transport was secured. Another positive impact of this project is increasing safety at railway crossings.
The total estimated costs of the construction designated as Line 280 Hranice na Moravě – Střelná, section Valašské Meziříčí (outside) – Jablůnka (outside) and Vsetín (outside) – Horní Lideč (outside) amounted to CZK 645,742,300 (VAT excluded). The project is co-financed by the European Union from its Cohesion Fund under the Operational Programme Transport to a maximum amount of CZK 477,422,726. National financing is provided by the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure. The companies TSS Grade, a.s., Železničné stavby, a.s. Košice, Porr a.s. and Doprastav a.s. organizační složka Praha acted as suppliers.
