On 9 February 2018, the Management Board of the National Railway Company CFR S.A. appointed Mr Ion Gavrilă as Acting General Director of the company.

Mr Ion Gavrilă will coordinate the activity of CFR S.A., the national company that manages the public railway infrastructure, until the selection procedure for a general director is completed, according to the Romania legislation on corporate governance of public enterprises.

Mr Ion Gavrilă is an engineer with 40 years experience in the railways. Until his recent appointment he held the position of General Director at Electrification CFR – the specialised subsidiary of CFR S.A. in charge of the maintenance and operation of the electrification and power supply installations.
