The 6th International Railway Summit, hosted by IRITS Events and organised in association with UIC was held in Prague over a busy three days from 21 – 23 February.
International Railway Summit is a meeting of senior executives representing the world’s key railway operators, railway infrastructure management companies, national and local governments, rolling stock manufacturers and a wide range of solution providers.
It included the core summit programme of debates with a parallel series of one-to-one consultations, technical visits with, of course, ample opportunity for formal and informal networking.
The 116 delegates representing 84 companies, associations, and organisations from 23 countries actively participated in the conference programme on ‘Improving passenger experience and customer satisfaction’, chaired by Simon Fletcher, UIC’s Director Standards and Coordinator Europe.
Elisabeth Werner, Director of Land Transport at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG Move), Jean-Pierre Loubinoux, Director General, UIC and Libor Lochman, Executive Director, CER were amongst the presenters of keynote speeches. There were also lively panel discussions, technical reviews and contributions from prominent figures within the rail sector.
During the two-day conference, speakers from around the world offered opinion and technical solutions related to the impact of high-speed rail on society, the competitiveness of rail, safety & security, global megatrends, the future of rolling stock and the important topic of addressing passenger satisfaction, at this event, in an urban context.
UIC member companies provided the location for the technical visits Czech Railways’ Prague depot and SŽDC’s newly-opened Balabenka control centre.
The 7th International Railway Summit will take place in Frankfurt from 20 – 22 February 2019.
