Mr Mamadou Dia, Director of Cabinet of the Secretary of State in charge of the Senegalese railway network, and Mr Amadou Sall, Technical Director of CFS Senegal, visited UIC headquarters on 7 and 8 April. During the two-day visit, they met with UIC experts to discuss cooperation in the areas of rolling stock and track maintenance, passenger transport, safety and security.

Bilateral cooperation between UIC and Senegalese railway companies was the focus of a meeting with UIC Director General François Davenne and Christian Chavanel, Director of the Railway System Department.

The discussion and exchange of ideas centred on railway development as a way of reinforcing competitivity and productivity in Senegal, technical vision, the great success of the new Dakar regional express trains, and objectives with regard to modal transfer.

The UIC Vision 2030 was also discussed, as were the objectives of the UIC Railway System Department, including capacity optimisation, improved operational quality and customer service, and innovation.
