The next International NextStation Conference will be held in Madrid on 19 and 20 October 2017. It is being co-organised by the International Union of Railways and ADIF, the Spanish Rail Infrastructure Manager.
The members of the Organising Committee and the Restricted Scientific Committee met in Madrid on 8 June to establish the main outlines of the conference. The event will take place at the Eurostars Madrid Tower near the Chamartin railway station in Madrid.
NEXTSTATION 2017 will be dedicated to the theme “Smart Stations in Smart Cities”. This international event will provide a unique opportunity for high-level speakers and panellists to address all strategic issues relating to the creation, development and operation of railway stations. It will cover such subjects as project development and financing, station management, station and urban planning, the sustainable, eco-friendly railway station, facilities and design, commercial use of station space and services, multimodality, accessibility, and security.
Following its five previous editions, NEXTSTATION has become a benchmark event; a privileged venue for sharing information and experiences regarding the development and operation of stations across the world.
Developing a new generation of railway stations that meet the needs of information and mobility for travellers – whilst respecting the aims of sustainable development – is a strategic goal for all UIC members.
The Organising and Restricted Scientific Committees discussed the organisation and content of the conference and decided on:
- Plenary sessions
- 2 round tables
- 8 technical sessions on specific themes
- A professional exhibition
- A programme of technical visits
The NextStation conference will also be a privileged venue for all technological companies interested in finding new business opportunities within the booming digitalisation process currently underway in the railway station sector at the global level.
