Mr Manel Villalante i Llauradó, Director-General of Development and Strategy at Renfe, has been nominated as chair of UIC’s Global Passenger Forum and High-Level Passenger Forum by Mr Isaías Táboas Suárez, President of Renfe.
UIC’s Global Passenger Forum represents and coordinates all of the sectors encompassed by the UIC Passenger department: the intercity and high-speed committee, the passenger services group, commuter and regional train services, the station managers’ global group, tourism opportunities for rail and the RIC special group.
The High-Level Passenger Forum is the UIC/CER body in charge of determining the main targets and steering the priority lines of action for passenger railway business at global level.
Mr Jean-Pierre Loubinoux welcomed the initiative taken by Renfe and extended his thanks to Messrs Táboas Suárez and Villalante i Llauradó.
Member involvement in UIC’s groups, platforms and fora is essential to ensure that the organisation develops coordinated activities and approaches for the rail sector. UIC has a broad range of passenger transport-related activities in complementary areas, and this forum will ensure that they are developed effectively.
