Within the framework of UIC Africa’s regional activities, UIC, SNCF and ARTF experts met in Paris on 4 April 2019 in preparation for a crisis management seminar which will take place in Libreville, Gabon from 14 to 16 May 2019.
The seminar is being organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Transport of Gabon and will be co-hosted by UIC, UIC Africa, SETRAG and ARTF.
The three-day seminar will gather together technical experts from Gabon and a number of other African countries. The aims of the seminar are to provide an overview of crisis management in Gabon, to share experiences of crisis management in other African countries and in Europe, and to provide an opportunity for a table-top roleplay exercise.
The speakers will include representatives from SNCF, UIC, SETRAG, ARTF, CamRail, ANESRIF and other railways.
The proposal to organise the seminar was put forward during the International Conference on Railway Safety and Security Risks and Challenges, which took place in Djibouti on 28 and 29 March 2018. The proposal was then validated at the African Regional Assembly in December 2018 and was included in the programme for actions in 2019.
